We work with professional translators and Interpreters

At GLS we offer a fast and efficient audio or video transcription service. In essence transcription means converting an audio or video file into a written format. The kind of transcription you need will depend on what you want to achieve and will determine the time it will take and the overall cost. There are broadly three main categories of transcription:

Verbatim transcription:

This is a literal transcription of what is said in the audio or video file with nothing left out. Very often this type of transcription is used as evidence so you can expect to get a full transcription of every word including phrases and emotions expressed by the speaker such as anger or excitement as well as words or phrases that are incomplete or repeated. This type of transcription is useful for capturing the nuance of what is said as well as the content.

Edited transcripts:

Less complete than a Verbatim transcription an edited version allows the person transcribing to omit or edit some of the words spoken. The transcriber uses their skill to edit out unnecessary filler words that don't add anything to the meaning of the sentence. An edited version will still capture the meaning of what is expressed but it's presented in a more seamless way.

Intelligent transcripts:

This type of transcription is often the shortest and least time consuming. The transcriber will not only remove any unnecessary words or emotions from the transcription but will also correct slang expressions or grammatical errors to present a professional document. We accept audio files in a number of different formats although we prefer them to be sent electronically if possible. All you need to do is upload the file to our secure website and we can begin working on it for you. At GLS Translations we work to ensure that we deliver a transcription that is as complete and accurate as it can be. Our transcribers are experienced in their field and experts in both transcription and translation of vocabulary. Sometimes we will also employ a second transcriber to act as a proofreader to check and verify the transcription.
